Compare
Duolingo and Practiz.
Not one or the other. Duolingo and Practiz do different jobs. Here's how they compare, and how to use both.
Choose Duolingo if
you want a free, guided course in one of 40+ languages, with lessons that keep you coming back every day.
Add Practiz if
you're learning English and want extra practice at your level, with more of your own writing and words that come back on schedule.
Using both? Do your Duolingo lessons as usual. Then play a Practiz round on a theme you care about, to use the same everyday English in your own sentences.
Side by side.
| Aspect | Duolingo | Practiz |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A course: bite-sized lessons in units, in over 100 courses across 40+ languages.[1][2] | Practice, not a course: rounds of questions on the words of your level. |
| How you practise | Lessons along a path, plus a free Practice tab with Mistakes, Words, Speak and Listen.[2][3] | Rounds of 5, 10 or 20 questions on a theme, or a mix of the words that are due. |
| Writing and feedback | Answers are checked in the app, and Explain My Answer is free for everyone.[3] | Translations and your own sentences are checked by AI, with a line on what to change. You set how much writing a round has. |
| Languages and levels | 40+ languages; its biggest courses are aligned to the CEFR.[1][4] | English only for now, A1 to B2. |
| Bring your own words | Its pages don't describe adding your own words.[2][3]Our reading of their pages. | Not yet; words come from a dictionary of nearly 8,000, by level and theme. |
| Price | Free, with ads and an Energy limit on lessons. Super and Max are paid tiers.[5][6][7] | 5 free sessions, no card. Then $5.99 a month or $59.99 a year. |

All questionsCan I use Practiz alongside Duolingo?
Yes, that's what it's for. Keep doing your Duolingo lessons and use Practiz for extra English practice at your level. Practiz doesn't connect to Duolingo, so it won't follow your lessons one by one.
Does Practiz replace Duolingo?
No. Practiz doesn't teach a course. It's somewhere to practise what you're learning, so it works best next to one.
I learn Spanish on Duolingo. Can I practise it on Practiz?
Not yet. Practiz is English only for now, from A1 to B2. More languages are on their way.
